Omaha.

A quick post so I can get on track with my day to day updates. Tonight around 6pm we arrived at our hotel in Omaha. One thing about our hotel choices - usually I would think that staying at La Quinta's, Sleep Inn and Suites, Quality Inn's, etc., would be a little rough just because of the price point. I've gotta say, I do not understand why I haven't been staying at these hotels all along. They don't break the bank and they're pretty good. The Sleep Inn and Suites we're in tonight is clean and we're comfy. So are the girls.

We got here, got the girls set up, and then tried to freshen up like we hadn't been in a truck for seven hours. Like I was saying earlier, the drive was pretty bad with a LOT of meowing, specifically from the Olive department, but she eventually chilled out. Like around hour 5.5. It was a tough day. Emu pooped out after a couple of hours of meowing and slept like a little love. She has unexpectedly been the best on the trip so far. Also, pee-pee pads for the WIN today when Olive had an accident. I wasn't about to go out and buy another carrier.

Our hotel had a shuttle bring us downtown. Omaha is AWESOME. We aren't sure what we expected it would be, but it's super indie and chill. It reminds us a lot of Portland, Maine. Blocks and blocks of brick buildings and cool bars and restaurants on every corner. We ate at a brewery called Upstream Brewing Company. Food and beer were fabulous. This sign caught my eye on the way out.

We walked around and looked at what was downtown. We ended up stopping to have drinks at a super cute seafood restaurant called Plank, or Plank Seafood Provisions. We splurged and got oysters. They had three Massachusetts ones - Peter Point, First Encounters and Spring Creek, so we got 4 of each. So worth it, and always a good way to treat ourselves. After we finished up we had the shuttle pick us back up to go back and be with our little ladies. It was our only night in Omaha but we feel like we spent our time well and we'd definitely love to come back and explore more some day.

We are back now and are swapping out clean laundry from suitcases with dirty laundry from our hotel bags. We haven't quite mastered what stuff we take into the hotel and what we keep in the truck, but we're definitely improving. We are heading to bed shortly and then tomorrow we hit the road early once more with our sleepy kitties for our 8ish hours to Denver, Colorado.

Also, this blog may get a face lift at some point, but for now this is how we're going to roll while I work out all the kinks. Thanks for reading.
